Before & After
Transforming a concrete patio
Installation of a flagstone patio over an existing concrete
aggregate surface. Additional beds were created or enlarged for
more plants, rock accents or garden sculpture.

During the installation of the flagstone, new drain lines
were installed to improve water movement off the patio.
Stacked stone walls were built for the flower beds and large
rocks were brought in as accents. After the flagstone was
installed a sealer was applied which helped to bring out the color
in the stone.

Bringing some interest to a corner window

In this particular project there was a window
from a medical waiting room overlooking a blank wall. A
fountain was placed on a pedestal of cobblestones surrounded by
shade loving shrubs and perennials. This created an oasis
of interest in what was originally a nondescript corner.
Creating a path to enhance an
existing backyard landscape
In this particular project the client had an
existing pond and waterfall. There was a sitting area
above the pond, however access needed to be improved. The
area around the patio was in a low area. This lead to poor
turf, soggy conditions during wet weather and a lack of
visual impact when you came around the house.
A gravel path was created bordered with
cobblestones. This leads people from the side of the house
around to the back patio, the pond and waterfall and then up and
around to a sitting area under a grove of trees.
Creating an entirely new
landscape
This job included the building of stone patios,
the installation of a water feature, construction of wood
arbors, building stone walls to divide the back landscape into
two distinct levels and developing a planting plan for the
entire landscape that would provide interest throughout the
seasons. In addition construction was added to refinish
the garage and outdoor artist studio. The outdoor patio
was also furnished with a new gas grill and wood burning pizza
oven.
This project became more memorable because the
storm on July 22 did significant damage to the existing
landscape. A number of trees fell over during that
day. After the clean-up was completed our design team had
to redo the plan to compensate for the changed landscape.
Installation of a garden pond
Garden ponds are a wonderful addition to the
landscape. The custom designed water garden uses a waterfall,
stream and pond to create a natural environment for many
varieties of fish and aquatic plants. The system uses
rock, gravel and bacteria to break down excessive nutrients and
prevent undesirable algae from forming.
Improving a drainage problem
into a shaded garden path
A shady landscape with poor drainage can be a
very challenging environment to grow anything. The area
before was also used as a walkway to get around the house.
In situations like this creating a creek bed helps to establish
a pathway that can be used during all types of weather. It
also forms the backdrop for natural plantings that will perform
well in a shady environment.
